Tom Smith is a graduate of Lancaster University with a 2:1 degree in English Literature with Creative Writing. Having spent much of his adult life working in a variety of areas with young people and children, he has found a surprising but natural progression towards tutoring with Newell Tuition.
Outside of work, Tom has found life taking the form of the typical English graduate, spending his time writing and reading, then writing about reading and reading about writing.
Beyond this he holds onto an interest in theatre, a holdover from his time in Lancaster University Theatre Group and as a current member of Excelsior acting company. During this time he has performed in shows ranging from Shakespeare to Agatha Christie, as well as more contemporary plays – like the one where he sat in a box for an hour.
While his questionable singing and less than stellar dance abilities have held him away from performing in musicals, he has an affinity for listening to their soundtracks on repeat, his favorite being Les Miserables, and attending them whenever life allows.
